OEM or ODM — which one do you actually need?

This is the first question every new buyer asks, and the answer determines both your cost and your timeline. OEM is for brands that already have a distinct design they want to own exclusively. We build to your drawings, cut tooling for any new shape, and produce only for you. ODM is for brands that want a proven, market-tested silhouette carrying their own logo, colours and lens spec — with no tooling investment.

In practice, most first orders we ship are ODM. A new brand picks two or three styles from our catalogue, applies its logo and brand colours, and gets to market in about six weeks for the cost of the goods alone. OEM is the right move once a style is proven and you are ordering enough volume for a dedicated mould to pay for itself.

What you can customise

• Frame: shape, material (acetate, TR90, metal, recycled), colour, finish, temple design and hinge type — standard, barrel or spring hinge.
• Lens: UV400 or polarized, tint colour and density, mirrored or gradient coatings, and prescription-ready option for optical retailers.
• Branding: logo printing, laser engraving, hot stamping, embossing, metal logo plates, custom temple text, and inner-arm printing.
• Packaging: branded cases, pouches, cleaning cloths, hang tags, retail boxes and polybags — assembled and packed at the factory.

How a project runs, step by step

1. Brief and quote. Send your design, reference images or target style. We confirm material, lens spec, quantity and price within 1–2 working days.
2. Tooling (OEM only). If the frame is a new shape, we cut the mould — 20–30 days, $800–2,500 depending on complexity.
3. Sampling. We produce a physical sample with your actual branding applied, in 3–5 days after artwork approval, and ship it to you for sign-off.
4. Production. On your approval, mass production runs 25–40 days with in-line QC at the frame, lens and assembly stages.
5. Inspection and shipping. Pre-shipment inspection report and QC photos, then air (5–10 days) or sea (25–40 days) freight with full export documentation.
